Canadian-built Mavericks came standard with a 170 cu in six but could also be had with either of the two V8s offered south of the border; additionally, they could be ordered with metric instrumentation cluster markings instead of English ones if desired.
The Maverick went through several changes during its production run: most notably, an increase in size (the result of federal safety regulations) beginning with the 1974 model year that saw it grow nearly four inches longer and almost three inches wider than its predecessor. This expansion did not improve sales figures much, however; by 1976 demand for Mavericks had begun to wane considerably both domestically and internationally (in markets where it was sold), leading Ford to discontinue production after 1977.

2022 Ford Maverick Production Numbers
The highly anticipated Ford Maverick is finally set to enter production in the 2022 model year. While we don’t yet have official numbers, estimates put the Maverick’s production at around 100,000 units for its first year on sale. That would make it one of the most popular compact trucks on the market and solid competition for the likes of the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado.
The Maverick will be available in both four-door crew cab and five-door extended cab configurations, with a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive.Ford is offering a variety of engine choices for the Maverick, including a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 making 310 hp and 400 lb.
