How To Replace Front Turn Signal Bulb

What is a Front Turn Signal Bulb?

A front turn signal bulb is a small, light-emitting diode (LED) mounted in the front of your vehicle. When you turn your steering wheel to the left or right, the bulb flashes to indicate that you are turning. Your vehicle’s headlight also turns with the steering wheel to help drivers see in the darkness. A front turn signal bulb usually lasts about 10,000 hours and costs about $10 to replace.

How to Replace a Front Turn Signal Bulb

If your front turn signal light is not working, there are a few things you can do to try and remedy the situation. One option is to replace the bulb. Here’s how to do it:

1. Open the hood of your car and locate the front fascia.
2. Remove the screws that secure the fascia to the body of the car.
3. Carefully peel off the fascia, being careful not to damage any wires or cables underneath.
4. Locate and remove the turn signal bulb socket from beneath the fascia using a Phillips screwdriver.
5. Insert a new turn signal bulb into the socket and replace the screws that secure it in place. Be sure to insert them all evenly and firmly so that they don’t come loose during driving conditions.
6. Replace the fascia and reattach any wires or cables that were removed in steps 2-4 by following their respective directions and attaching them with wire connectors or electrical tape.

Tools You’ll Need

If your car has a front turn signal, you’ll need to replace its bulb. Here’s how:
1. Remove the front bumper cover.
2. Loosen the 3 bolts that hold the turn signal in place.
3. Carefully pull out the turn signal and disconnect the wires from it.
4. Replace the turn signal with a new one and reconnect the wires.
5. Tighten the 3 bolts that held it in place.


Instructions for replacing a front turn signal bulb:

1. Park your vehicle in a well-lit area.
2. Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition.
3. Remove the front wheel coverings by prying upwards from the center of the wheel with a flathead screwdriver.
4. Remove the front bumper fascia by removing six screws located near the edge of each end panel and pulling outward.
5. Disconnect both ground wires from the light assembly and discarding them.
6. Remove two Philips head screws (one on either side) that secure the light housing to the frame rail, then gently pull apart the housing until it clearsthe frame rail.7 Carefully remove both light bulbs from their sockets and place them in a glass jar or another suitable container to avoid contact with dirt or fluid spills.8 Replace both light bulbs with identical-type replacements using a Crimping Tool or Socket Adaptor (available at most hardware stores).9 Reinstallation is simply reversed, following these steps in reverse order:10 Bolt light housing back onto frame rail using two Phillips head screws, reconnecting ground wires as you go11 Replace front wheel coverings12 Replace front bumper fascia13 Replace front turn signal bulbs14 Reconnect ground wires15 Drive your vehicle away happy!
