How To Replace A Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor

How to Replace a Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor

Replacing a fuel tank pressure sensor is a common service that can be done on most vehicles. The reason for doing this is to ensure that the fuel in the tank is at the correct pressure and does not leak. When the pressure in the tank is too low, it can cause problems with the engine, such as stalls or poor running.

This procedure will require some tools and access to the undercarriage of your vehicle. Follow these steps to replace your fuel tank pressure sensor:

1) Remove the front bumper cover and lower grill by removing screws around them. use a pry tool if necessary
2) After removing the grills, you will see two hoses attached to each side of the fuel filler neck. Disconnect these hoses by turning them counter-clockwise (as seen from behind). Be careful not to kink either hose!
3) On some models, there are two bolts holding down each side of the fuel filler neck cover. Remove these bolts using a 10mm socket or wrench. carefully pry off the cover, being sure not to damage wiring or other parts beneath it
4) Once removed, you will see four fuel lines leading from underneath the car to each side of the filler neck. Carefully disconnect each line by pushing it out from between the metal railings on either side of filler neck opening 5) Gently pull out BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE FUEL LINES OR EXPOSURE

What to do if the Engine Light Comes on

If the engine light comes on, check to see if there is a fuel problem. If there is not a fuel problem, the engine may just need replacement parts. If there is a fuel problem, then you will need to replace the pressure sensor.
